How we calculate it.
We count the correctly typed characters and divide by five, the usual assumption for one word. That gives you your word count per minute.
What the result is not.
The result only describes your typing speed on this text. It is not a comparison to speaking and no statement about Hallig.
Step by step.

- Type the text shown.
- Let the 60 seconds run.
- Read your result in words per minute.

And how fast do you speak?

Common questions.
What counts as a good typing speed?
Large typing studies put the average at roughly 40 to 60 words per minute, with experienced typists often higher. Your own progress across several attempts matters more than comparing yourself to others.
Do typos count against me?
No, only correctly typed characters count toward your result. Characters you type wrong are not counted, but they still cost you time you could have spent on correct ones.
What does the test not measure?
The test only measures your typing speed on this one text. It says nothing about how fast you speak, and it is not a statement about Hallig.
